If your child will not be at school due to illness, you must call the school by 7:45 a.m. The sick line is 978-740-1178.

Guidelines for Acute Illness

The school nurse realizes there are times when it is in the best interest of your child to keep him/her home from school due to illness. The school nurse must also provide a healthy environment for all students. The goal of sick day guidelines is to assist parents/guardians with the decision of when to keep their child home from school due to illness or infection.

Students should not come to school if :

circlebullet.jpgThey have a temperature over 100 F. A student may return to school after having a normal temperature for 24 hours.

circlebullet.jpgAntibiotics are prescribed. The student may return to school after taking the antibiotics for a minimum of 24 hours and without a temperature over 100 F.

circlebullet.jpgThey are vomiting. The student may return to school approximately 12 hours after symptoms resolve and they are able to tolerate a normal diet.

circlebullet.jpgThey have diarrhea. The student may return to school approximately 12 hours after symptoms resolve and they are able to tolerate a normal diet.

circlebullet.jpgThey have severe cold symptoms.

circlebullet.jpgThey are diagnosed with a serious communicable disease, such as chicken pox, impetigo, scabies, or pertussis (whooping cough). 

Please contact our school nurse before sending your child back to school.  Physician's documentation is required for school attendance after treatment for impetigo, scabies pertussis, conjunctivitis, and other treatable communicable diseases.
